Collaborations with Generative Somatics

Photo from last year when Sanctuary Embodied facilitators (Yashna, Eliana, Adaku & Fayza) participated in a generative somatics training for Lead Teachers.

This newsletter edition is in collaboration with generative somatics — one of our primary teaching lineages.

generative somatics (gs) is offering spaces to be in practice and build community in this moment of high-stakes organizing and repression. While gs is not currently offering external trainings, we have several free opportunities to practice together through 2025 including the free online daily practice space as well as free regional practice groups in Los Angeles, Oakland & Durham.

In addition, many of us as gs teachers and practitioners are continuing to offer programs in this lineage. Throughout the rest of the year generative somatics will be highlighting these offers so if you aren’t already, please subscribe to the * gs * newsletter. This month, Sanctuary Embodied is being highlighted so we are sending out a copy to you!

On this note, many of us making these offers have been grappling with our relationship to using Instagram/Meta as a primary method for outreach. As people committed to the security of our communities and movements, we’re increasingly concerned about the platform’s political censorship - particularly in speaking out against genocides - as well as the silencing of Black, Indigenous, and people of color.

So, as we continue to divest from platforms that diminish our work and embolden the global elite, we are looking towards more aligned ways of reaching our networks. While we may still use social media to post updates, we are planning to shift to more frequent use of our mailing lists to stay connected.

We are glad that you are here.
